About Grejon

     GreJon Kennel is located on the shores of Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio, minutes from Cedar Point. Owners Gretchen and Johnny Nicholson have been involved in the breed since 1999. Performance Presa Canario are our passion. Johnny sits on the Board of Directors of the IAPC (International Association of the Presa Canario).  The IAPC is an organization founded on the beliefs and practices of  Red Star Kennel, who are the world’s leader in proven performance Presa Canario.

      Our breeding philosophy is based on the IAPC guidelines, which were designed to maintain the Presa Canario as the ultimate family guardian. At GreJon we take it one step further by also proving our dogs through the sport of Schutzhund. The three testing phases of Schutzhund (Obedience, Protection, and Tracking) provide a significant base for the qualities we look for in a breeding dog. Our dogs not only have to excel on the competition field, they must also be stable, loyal family protectors. This "on/off" switch requires a balance in drives that are a hallmark of IAPC breeding dogs. At GreJon we call this Pureformance Presa Canario, and we look forward to carrying on this tradition of breeding only to the best.  With our dogs working heritage we feel confident they would also do well in other working venues including but not limited to PSA, French Ring, Mondio Ring, Weightpulling and Irondog events.  The most important aspect to remember is we breed working dogs, we expect new owners to provide our dogs with physical activity to work the mind as well as the body.  Of course, none of this is possible without a healthy dog.  That's why all of our breeding prospects are vet tested and our puppies are guaranteed to be free of congenital defects like dysplasia.
